My Top Glowing Skin Tips for Dry Skin

I was recently asked how I keep my dry skin glowing in winter so I created 2 videos to answer that question, because it is a combination of skincare and makeup. We will start with Part 1: Skincare.

Part 1: Skincare

Winter Skin Tips

Winter doesn't have to mean sacrificing your skin's natural glow. With a thoughtful skincare routine and some key products / ingredients, you can keep your complexion radiant even in the face of chilly winds and dry air. Here is my winter skincare regimen that you can tailor to suit your exact needs.

Part 1

Step 1: Cleansing

Winter is notorious for robbing our skin of moisture, so I get more into my oil, cream and balm at this time of year to effectively remove impurities without stripping away your skin's essential oils. These formulations not only cleanse but also provide a nurturing base for the subsequent steps. I always recommend a double cleanse at night, so I start with an oil and finish with a cream cleanser. I use my Foreo Luna 3 x week for a gentle exfoliation + stimulation.

Step 2: Layer on Hydration with Serums

Once your skin is prepped and clean, it's time to introduce hydration. Serums play a crucial role in delivering concentrated nutrients to the skin. Look for serums containing hyaluronic acid, a powerhouse ingredient that attracts and retains moisture. This step ensures that your skin stays hydrated throughout the day, combating the drying effects of winter.

Step 3: Magnificent Moisturizer

A nourishing moisturizer is the heart of any winter skincare routine, especially for dry skin types. Choose a moisturizer with rich, emollient ingredients to create a protective barrier. This barrier not only locks in the moisture from your previous steps but also shields your skin from the harsh elements. Take the time to massage the moisturizer into your skin, allowing it to deeply penetrate and nourish.

Step 4: Protect with Face Oil

To cap off your winter skincare routine, introduce a face oil into the mix. Think of it as the ultimate protective shield against the unforgiving winter winds. Face oils provide an additional layer of nourishment, helping to prevent moisture loss. Look for oils with hydrating and replenishing properties like argan, jojoba, or rosehip. Gently press the oil into your skin, allowing it to absorb fully and leaving you with a luminous, dewy finish.

Pro Tips:

In winter skincare, consistency is crucial. Aim to follow a routine morning and night for optimal results and you can add in a hydrating mask if you need to. And while winter may bring colder temperatures, UV rays are still present. Incorporate a broad-spectrum sunscreen into your morning routine to shield your skin from potential damage.

Part 2: Makeup

Primer:

I always start my makeup for myself and my clients with a Radiance Primer. This is a great way to start applying thin veils of glow to your skin.

Highlighter:

After you apply your base, layering a cream highlighter helps to finish off that dewy look. Here is my selection of favourites. Apply it with your fingers, a brush or a sponge.

In Conclusion

Winter skincare for dry skin is all about layering and locking in moisture. By incorporating an oil or balm cleanser, hydrating serums, a rich moisturizer, and a protective face oil, you create a robust defence against the winter elements. and the dehydrating effect of heating and lower moisture levels in the air.

Stay radiant and dewy all season long!
